Generative Collage Series

“Mirror, Vain” explores the transient nature of life and beauty, using mirrored, jagged collage pieces. The meaning of the output artworks can change progressively depending on the level of detail noticed by each viewer.

Each piece in “Mirror, Vain” is composed of 6-10 randomly created Voronoi zones, each filled with grid-rendered images. All source images (195 artworks, letters and photographs) for this generative series were selected from the vast digital archive (27k items with CC0 license) provided by the Finnish National Gallery.

The journey to the final output is vital for the experience, as the progressive rendering is often obscuring earlier elements, creating surprising metaphors.
