După urmă

A kinetic sculpture attempting to reproduce the trace of its own past

După urmă is a kinetic sculpture that attempts to reproduce the trace of its own past.

A monitor plays an earlier black-and-white film made with the same object. In the present, the sculpture listens to the sonic trace of its recorded behavior and attempts to reproduce it through movement and sound.

The object cannot reproduce its past exactly. Each attempt introduces small deviations in rhythm, intensity and synchronization. The recorded trace therefore becomes an active part of the sculpture’s present behavior rather than a document of something that has already happened.

The sculpture produces movement and sound through a small electric motor. Its movement turns a copper ring, while residual motor vibrations become fragmented mechanical sounds around an unstable electrical impulse.
